The inner courtyard of the main library is a beautiful and pleasant area for spending time in. The sheltered venue is suitable for small cultural events.

Turku Main Library, located on the banks of Aurajoki river and close to the historic centre of the city, is a stylish set of two buildings. There is a beautiful inner courtyard between the old and new library buildings that forms a pleasant space that is rich with culture.

The inner courtyard features Minna Äkkijyrkkä’s large work of art, Sweet Yellow Melon, as well as Café Sirius. The side of the courtyard that is closer to the Aurajoki river has a historic building that houses the administration department of the City of Turku’s Recreation Division.

The inner courtyard of the Main Library has been used as a venue for various kinds of music performances, ranging from techno music concerts to concerts by the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra and concerts that are part of the Turku Wind Music Festival.
