The City of Turku’s Attraction and Events area of responsibility operates as part of the Recreation Services of Turku, engaging in close cooperation with the City’s Central Administration, interest groups, event organisers and businesses.
The area of responsibility strengthens Turku’s attractiveness by promoting content that activates residents, experiential services, urban culture, events and awareness thereof, accessibility and cooperation between different operators.
The City of Turku has two main communication and marketing channels: the communication channels of the City of Turku and Visit Turku, the city's tourist office. The City of Turku's communications are mainly aimed at Turku residents and those living in the Turku region, and Visit Turku's communications are aimed at domestic and international visitors arriving in the city.

Temporary Traffic Arrangements
Temporary traffic arrangements are needed if traffic has to be restricted. All temporary traffic arrangements must be reported to the Turku Urban Transport Center by submitting a notification on temporary traffic arrangements.

Meeting Room and Event Venue Mestari
Mestari is a meeting room and event venue in a wooden house which is located along the street Vartiovuorenkatu. The room can host about 30 persons. In the meeting room, there is a data projector and a DVD player available. In the kitchen, there is an electric oven and a stove, coffee machine, water boiler, microwave owen, fridge, freezer, dish washer as well as dishware and serving pieces available.

Christmas mumming on Boxing Day is an important part of the holiday celebrations in Luostarinmäki. Traditionally a group of young men sing the Boxing Day carol while walking from house to house begging for beer and wishing good fortune for the families.

The area houses several art galleries and the Artoteque. Varied cultural and art events, concerts and theatre performances are organised within the premises of the Old Great Square.
In addition, several outdoor events are organised, the most renowned are the Medieval Fair and the Christmas Fair in the Old Great Square.
When does an event require permission?
All outdoor events and sales require permission from the landowner. If you wish to organize an event in a public area owned by the city, such as a park, street or market square, you must get permission from the city of Turku. Fill in the event announcement form below. The form is in Finnish/Swedish.
At Duke John's Cellar you can enjoy a refreshing cup of coffee or a delicious meal while visiting the museum. The Cellar is also the venue for historical food festivities.
