Personal assistance is provided to a person with a severe disability who needs the assistance of another person in their daily activities:
- to work and study
- to participate in hobbies
- to participate in society, or
- to maintain social interactions.
You can apply for personal assistance at the city's services for the disabled. The social worker evaluates the way the service is implemented in cooperation with the client. Different practices can be combined.

A transport service covers an ordinary taxi or a disabled taxi.
You can apply for the transport service at the services for the disabled. The telephone service to book an appointment with a social workers is open Mon, Wed and Fri 9 a.m.–10 a.m.
The telephone service for service managers of transport services for persons over 70 years of age is open Mon – Fri 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. and Mon, Tue and Thu 1 p.m. – 2 p.m.

The Accompaniment Card makes it easier for a person with a disability or a chronic disease to exercise and experience culture. The card entitles one person to free admission to accompany or assist the card holder.

A disability, chronic disease, or the use of mobility aids are no impediment to exercising. Adapted services offer joy of movement for kids, youth and adults.

Applications concerning the services or measures of support of the Disability Services must be sent in writing. You should enclose a medical certificate from a health centre doctor and, if needed, other expert’s opinions and reports.
Applications concerning disability services must be sent beforehand, e.g. before commencing any alteration work in an apartment.
It is possible to call the social workers during the phone hour and book an appointment or a home visit. They can also give further information about the services and how to apply for them.

The services are intended for persons who, due to an intellectual disability, need special services.
Psychological and social checks and a basic health check are carried out as a part of the services for persons with intellectual disabilities. Based on the inspections carried out, an individual service and rehabilitation plan will be drawn up. Special services are needed when basic services are not sufficient.
Services for persons with intellectual disabilities include:

Day activities are organized for the disabled, the elderly and persons suffering from memory disorders, as well as for intoxicant abusers and homeless persons.
The aim of the work and day activities is to organize meaningful work and activities for persons with mental disabilities and to consequently promote independent coping. If you wish to apply to an activity and day centre please contact the staff of Paletti. Adults and youth with disabilities may visit an activity centre 2–5 times per week on weekdays.
